Seawater Uptake Systems
Many FPSO vessels are installed with flexible risers to provide a means of obtaining low oxygenated water for the FPSO cooling, process, utility and/or water injection systems. ContiTech Beattie has developed a range of seawater uptake riser systems utilising large diameter flexible bonded rubber hoses, and has now supplied a number of these systems to installations throughout the world. Working in conjunction with sister company Eddelbuttel & Schneider in Germany, ContiTech Beattie Limited can offer a total system to its clients, with the hoses being manufactured at ContiTech nRubber Industrial, our hose manufacturing facility in Hungary.
Of the designs developed, we can provide systems which are installed when moored offshore from inside the hull of the FPSO or external to the FPSO hull with a method of installation and hook up enabling field installation of the equipment without the need to deploy divers or ROV's for location, connection or recovery of the equipment.
Each intake assembly will be designed and custom built in accordance with project specifications and requirements and will be provided with a global static, dynamic and localised analysis of the flexible hose during installation operations and extreme operating conditions.
The range of analysis can include:
- Analysis of Flexible Hose
- Analysis of Static Configuration
- Dynamic Analysis
Design of the system will incorporate hypochlorite injection line to minimise marine growth inside the riser system and provide longer maintenance intervals.
