Introduction
Bunkering Hose & Hose Loading Stations
The development and design of the ContiTech Beattie Limited loading station is based on our extensive experience in the design and application of bulk loading hose in the offshore market. The hose assemblies and fittings produced by ContiTech Beattie are suitable for a wide range of bulk materials and environmental loading conditions. The use of these assemblies in conjunction with purpose built bulk hose loading stations has transformed recognised hose storage and bunkering practice worldwide within the offshore oil and gas sector.
The ContiTech Beattie range of bulk hose loading stations have been supplied to over 50 offshore installations over the past 10 years including rigs, semi submersibles, supply vessels and FPSO’s.
The installation of ContiTech Beattie bulk hose loading stations has proved to be a huge success over the years since its inception, resolving many of the safety and life expectancy problems commonly associated with bunkering hoses.
One specific method of storage previously used and less commonly still being used was to hang bulk loading hose over the side of the platform exposing the hose to extreme offshore environmental conditions for long periods of time with a high probability of damage due to entanglement and UV exposure.
The bulk hose loading stations manufactured by ContiTech Beattie provide a cost effective method of quickly and safely deploying and recovering bulk loading hose under a wide range of extreme conditions with the following benefits:
- Storage of hose on reels provides improved protection against the environment, enhances life expectancy and through life costs of the hose and improves the working environment for the operator.
- Safe storage of bulk loading hose. Protecting a vital supply link to your facility.
- Simplifying handling and operating procedures with the elimination of hose hanging over the edge of a facility.
- Storage of hose on a reel eliminates entanglement of the hoses below the platform thereby guaranteeing a more consistent and efficient bulk loading operation.
- The occurrence of damage to hose by abrasion, fatigue and environmental exposure such as UV radiation is drastically reduced resulting in an increased service life and improved through life cost.
- Access to the full length of a hose can be achieved by a single operator.
